Molectron
Information on Molectron / coherent laser power meters. Ultimately for the ezlaze project. I'm mostly interested in pyroelectric heads for pulsed power.

J | DB25 | Joule:
J8 J25 J50 J100
OP-2 S10 |
3sigma
FieldMax-TOP FieldMax-TO FieldMate |
25LC320
(SPI) |
Joule sensor: J25 is the most common followed by J50. J8 seems rare
Power sensor: OP-2 might be the most common. S10 seems rare

LM
(LabMax) |
DB25 | LM-2
LM-10 LM-30 LM-45 LM-100 |
4omega? |
24C04
(I2C) |
|
LM-P | DB25 | LM-P10 | LM-P EEPROM looks slightly different than LM and in fact the LabMax-TOP user manual mentions these sensors are not compatible | ||
PM
(PowerMax) |
DB25 | PM10
PM150 PM-P (PowerMax-Pro) |
PM5200 | 93C46N
(SPI) |
Even if it was electrically compatible w/ JSA EEPROM format is completely different |
Ecosystems:
- J DB-25 smart probes
- Interface: DB25
- Also known as JSA?
- 3sigma, FieldMax-TOP, FieldMax-TO, FieldMate
- Intended to be used with J25, J50 power probes
- I also have an S10 energy probe, seems to be compatible
- LM DB-25 smart probes
- Interface: DB25
- Intended to be used with LM probes
Warning: J25 and LM are not compatible.
Other DB25 probes (none are known to be compatible):
- Ophir
- Laserpoint
- Gentec
- Newport
List of Molectron related power meters:
- 3sigma
- 4omega
- FieldMate
- FieldMax-TO
- FieldMax-TOP
- Fieldmaster
- LabMax-TOP
- Compatible with LM-, PM-, and PS- model thermopile sensors, and OP-2 and LM-2 model optical sensors. No adapters required.
- Measures energy to 10000 pps and captures every pulse to 1000 pps with J-model and EnergyMax sensors
- LabMax is not compatible with the legacy LM-P model energy sensors

Lots of good info:
- Energy Sensors Coherent J25.pdf
- 2009_LMCCatalog86.pdf
There was a conversion box you could buy at one point though (thermal-smartsensor-adapter-data-sheet.pdf), so it might just be different EPROM format
- JSA-BNC Adapter
- 0012-2340: JSA-BNC Adapter for use with 3sigma, FieldMax-TOP, and FieldMax-P
- 1056827: SmartSensor Adapter for use with 3sigma, FieldMax-TOP, FieldMax-TO,and FieldMate
- Automatically configures itself to work with LM-model sensors

Relatively cheap impulse buy to compare EEPROM formats
Significantly more complicated inside. Instead of being a simple BNC out there is a whole bundle of cases. Think this is "heated" version maybe though and there might be a dumber version
Atmel 24C04
- 4KB I2C
- PDIP8
- I was going to make an adapter and figure out pinout, but I decided to just clip on instead

3Sigma (eBay) meter
Came with CW sensor
3Sigma (dumpster dive) meter
Came w/ sensor + BNC adapter
Screen is messed up
Came with Lemo cable. Doesn't fit trigger ports or anything I can tell
JD1000 meter
Capacitor exploded when plugged in (presumably due to age). Didn't work after, although some lights turned on. Scrapped
Newport 835
Newport project: http://hololaser.kwaoo.me/electronics/Newport835.html
I just happen to also have a few Newport 835s. Unfortunately my inventory is:
- Newport 835, S/N 1477: calibrated for 818-SL, S/N 3190
- Newport 835, S/N 1502: calibrated for 818-SL, S/N 3165
- Newport 818-SL, S/N 3191
...which is close but doesn't entirely match. Dumped the EPROM / calibration data though in case I want to play with it in the future
Liconix 45PM
My oldest laser power meter. Meter + head both have S/N 9110014.
Completely analog / calibrated via pots.
