This page describes the KMS310RT (infinity K2 IND) in detail. Effort was started in effort to better repair them

The auto-focus and camera sync features seem to add considerable complexity. I don't care about auto-focus and am unsure if I need the video sync feature (I should be able to deal with it through camera registers). Unfortunately, these add a considerable number of mirrors etc that need to be clean

Main circuit board

Has an FPGA, presumably for auto-focus logic

Chips:

  • 74HC14
  • MAXIM MAX681 5V to +/-10V converter
  • ALTERA EPM5128 FPGA
  • NAT SEMI LM1881 VIDEO SYNC SEPARATOR

Defective optic: mirror

Schematic: M3

During removal additional damage was sustained/noticed. Its possible the original white stuff (mostly?) comes off. Regardless, this needs to be replaced

Defective optic: diffusor?

Schematic: L2

Above: surface irregularities. These show up on microscope images

I think this is supposed to be a diffuser to make lamp illumination more even. Unfortunately, the surface has warped leading to sharp irregularities in the final images
